Dr. Megan Allred
Veterinarian
See More
Dr. Megan Allred brings a deep passion for emergency medicine and a commitment to compassionate, high-quality care to the Midlothian community she proudly calls home. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Dr. Allred earned dual degrees in Biology and Chemistry, where her interest in veterinary medicine was sparked by research involving sea turtles. This early curiosity led her to Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, where her passion became a calling.
Following veterinary school, Dr. Allred completed a competitive internship in emergency and critical care, gaining advanced experience in soft tissue surgery, trauma care, and urgent medical interventions. Her years as an emergency clinician sharpened her skills and deepened her dedication to helping pets—and their families—through some of their most stressful moments.
Today, as a part of the Urgent Paws Veterinary Care team, Dr. Allred brings her extensive emergency background to serve pets in Midlothian with expert care when they need it most. She is especially passionate about guiding pet owners through unexpected situations with clarity, empathy, and skill.
When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Allred enjoys running the local trails, traveling, and cheering on her beloved Auburn Tigers, War Eagle! She lives in Moseley with her family and their lively pack of pets, including a golden retriever, a miniature dachshund, and three beloved cats, two siamese and a ragdoll.
Dr. Allred is honored to be part of the Midlothian veterinary community and looks forward to continuing to build trusted relationships with the families she serves.

Dr. Jeff Smith brings more than two decades of experience in emergency and urgent veterinary care and is committed to helping pets and their families navigate stressful medical situations with calm, clear guidance and compassionate care.
Dr. Smith grew up in Florida and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida before receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida. He spent more than two decades practicing in emergency hospitals in Cincinnati, gaining extensive experience managing a wide range of emergency and critical medical cases.
After relocating to Virginia, Dr. Smith began working throughout the region in a variety of veterinary settings, including emergency hospitals, urgent care clinics, and general practices. Dr. Smith is excited to join the team at Urgent Paws Veterinary Care, where he looks forward to helping provide accessible, high-quality urgent care to pets in the Midlothian community.
Outside of work, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his wife and their four children, whose ages range from 17 to 24. Their home is also shared with a Yorkiepoo, a Havanese, and three domestic shorthair cats.
